Update

On April 30, 2004, we lost our buddy to a type of cancer called SCC. I documented my experiences in dealing with the illness and submitted the document to a site dedicated to SCC. If you would like to read it, click here. It's a Microsoft Word document.

I miss my buddy very much... I know we'll meet again someday when it's my time to go to the other side.

Rishi's History

My name is Rishi. I was born in Muncie, Indiana in October of 1993. My mother was a full Siamese, I don't know what my father was. My owner, Laura, bought me at a small pet store in Muncie called the Purple Hippo for $18. She got a discount for using her Ball State University student I.D.

Laura bought me on impulse so while I was in the car, she ran into the local K-Mart, bought a litter box, litter, cat supplies and toys. I held my bladder the whole time until she got me home and setup my new litter box.

I had fleas, worms and ear mites I got from the pet store, and despite Laura's poor income as a student, she got me cleaned up at the vet and I was very happy to be at my new home with my new owner (or as I like to call her, my pet human).

Laura named me Rishi because it is a yoga phrase meaning 'balance.' That's me!
Daytime stalker.
This is far enough.

In July 2003, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I had lost a lot of weight and was very listless before the diagnosis. I didn't know what was wrong with me since I wasn't my usually perky self. But now, twice a day, my owners stick this needle in me for a split second and it seems to make me feel like my old self. I gained back all of my weight (and then some), and I'm playful again, so as long as this continues, I don't mind the sticking I get.

My favorite hobby.
